March boasts the warmest temperatures of the year in Manuel Antonio, and there is very little rain. This sunny month is a top time of year to explore the coastal region, and many travelers from across the globe visit in March. It is also the time of year when nearby San Jose, Costa Rica, holds the International Festival of the Arts. This is a big city-wide cultural event, and it attracts plenty of visitors to Costa Rica. While that can slightly increase the cost of flights to Costa Rica, it can also mean fewer crowds in Manuel Antonio.
As you’re preparing for your trip to Manuel Antonio in March, be prepared for lots of direct sunlight. Sunglasses, a hat and some sunscreen are musts if you’ll be spending time outside. However, many visitors still need a light jacket or a sweater for the cooler evenings and mornings.
One of the busiest beaches in Manuel Antonio, especially in March, is the Espadilla Norte Beach. This is where many of the top hotels in the region are located, making it a hotspot for travelers. At the southern end of the one-mile stretch of sand, there are often slightly bigger crowds. However, you can walk north until you find a little more privacy. It is a great spot for swimming, although there can be a strong current at times.
If you want to stay right on Playa Espadilla, you’re in luck! There are several hotels either right on the beach or within a short walking distance. Hotel Verde Mar is reasonably priced choice that has just 28 guestrooms, so you’ll still get a boutique feel and plenty of personalized attention from staff. The hotel is also a short walk from Restaurant Balu, a casual and welcoming eatery serving up homemade cuisine and plenty of fresh seafood.
